Duct Tape Wallets

Check these bad boys out! Wallets made out of duct tape which look good to boot. Pete, a fellow Melbournian started making these for kicks but they have taken off for him for obvious reasons. The wallets are really tough, have all the usual features and look really cool, especially as you can have him customise your own wallet with different colours and designs. These have been getting some very decent workouts from skaters and BMXers with rave reviews and long lifespan under extreme conditions, so they should survive the equally ruthless MTB regime without any problems.

God only knows how this man does what he does with duct tape, it is a true mystery to me how he can use a sticky strip primarily used in horror films to create a wallet, but they are damn fine. They are affordable too, ranging from between $30-$60. If you want to find out more details you can contact Pete at chuckysun@gmail.com. Check out his Fat Kransky website as well.

Orchid Shoes

The most important piece of fashion you can own being a rider are by far shoes. Not because they look cool, or you have more pairs than your girlfriend, but how practical they are for riding. I have used various different shoes for riding over time, dozens of different skate shoes, the hailed Dunlop Volley and even sports shoes (back in my darker grommet years).

All of these shoes will do the job, but they never really excel. Volley’s grip well, but they are soft and wear out quickly and do not provide adequate stiffness in the sole for use on pedals. Skate shoes are great but the sole designs are never really practical to grip onto flat pedal pins and they also suffer from the soft sole syndrome. Finally sports shoes, well they are just sports shoes, enough said.

Azonic Skid Lid

Azonic have just brought out a new dirt jump / skate helmet dubbed the “Skid Lid”. It is a very aggressively styled helmet, with sharp, curvacious almost evil lines. The styling and vent design looks almost like a supe’d up japanese sports car e.g. they look really cool but actually do bugger all.
