Ashgrove Cycles’ Jump Jam

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

To all you Queensland fold out there, I hope you have already heard about Ashgrove Cycles’ Jump Jam. It is kicking off this weekend on Sunday the 12th of November. It will be held at Ashgrove Jumps, which are on Barnett Lane in you know what suburb.

Entry is $10 and you will need to get an MTBA day license if you don’t have one, this will set you back $15. There will be 3 classes; Under 15, Under 18 and 18+. Should be a great day starting at 10am with a Jump Clinic. The comp will be run between 12pm and 1:30pm. After that there will be an Old School Dual Slalom event run from 1:30pm until 2:30pm.

Darren Pokoj will be there so make sure you get down if not only to see a master in action and pick up a few pointers from him. Looks like it will be a good event and we will do our best to get results and photos up on the site when available.

Brisbane Skatepark Jam/Comp

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

On Sunday the 9th of July there is going to be a large collective of local street / skate park riders and dirt jumpers descending upon Jindalee skate park. Starting at 10am riders will be riding, socialising and rocking along with a local band and a DJ playing in the annex. At 1pm a small competition will be run in the skate park for anyone who’s up to it, with prizes for the winners. The overall objective of the day is to bring together all types of riders and try to create a platform to Promote and inspire street riding in Brisbane. Everyone is welcome and this is an entirely free event. The whole day has been put together by 2 local riders and supported by ‘For The Riders’ and ‘Coping Clothing’. So far the prize pool consists of a brand new set of Maxxis tyres, T-shirts and Hoodies.

Jindalee skate park is located where Amazons used to be just off the centenary highway in Jindalee. Also for those who prefer their wheels airborne the skate park contains 3 various sized Dirt jump lines containing 2 four foot tables, 2 five foot doubles with a hefty lip on the second and a 12 foot gap, a set of rollers and a four and a half foot hip. Should be a fun day and It’ll be great to see everyone there. A full write up with photo’s and comp results will be up after the event.
