NWD 6 - Unchained
The New World Disorder series never ceases to entertain. Number 6 in the series is more action packed than any of its predecessors. It seems that Freeride Entertainment and resorted back to their roots, “Freeriding”. Whether that be hucking off cliffs, descending the mountains of South America, slope-styles, jump parks or urban riding. The main thing to be noted is that you will not find any racing at all in NWD 6. Which is a good thing, now that we have several film series out there focusing on DH & 4X racing there is no need to use it in a “freeride” film apart from a content filler.
The riders featured are the usual gang including: Paul Basagotia, Darren Berrecloth, Robbie Bourdon, Aaron Chase, John Cowan, Carlin Dunne, Wayne Goss, Cedric Gracia, Geoff Gulevich, Jeff Lenosky, Cam McCaul, Timo Pritzel, Richie Schley, Wade Simmons, Kyle Strait, Thomas Vanderam, Kirt Voreeis, Dave Watson & Cameron Zink.
Almost all rider segments were great; either providing huge airs and drops or amazing skill and stricks, or a bit of both. The only segment that failed to impress me was the Gulevich/Brooks/Gatzka/ segment. I just get the impression that it is a bit of a token segment for RaceFace as the riders are the finalists from their competition. None the less; their riding is good and they defiinitly hit some big stuff, but it didn’t blow me away like the rest of the segments.
My favourite section would have had to be (need you guess?) Aaron Chase and Jeff Lenosky throwing down some extremely stylin’ street. To a very solid song indeed, which leads me to the music. The music in the NWD series is always of an extremely good quality, NWD 6 is no exception. A solid mix of old and new, slow and hard, rock and hip hop. The following is a list of the songs and some links to their sites in case you want to check out the

Cinematography wise the film is very good. The execution of filming was of an extremely high quality with great camera work as we expect from a high quality film such as NWD. Editing was also very good, extremely good in some segments but it was not consistent through the whole film at this level (eg. Lenosky, Gracia segments).
Overall i enjoyed the film immensely, quality riding, editing and music. I think it would have been nice to trim out some segments as they didn’t really do much for the film overall, for that i can’t rate the film as highly as i would like to. But it still gets a deservedly 4/5 stars from me.
A must have for your MTB DVD collection!
