On-One Gimp Mark 3 Review

It has been a while coming, with Uni and work writing on the site has taken a back seat unfortunately. But now i have finished Uni for the semester, hopefully i can get a bit more content up for you guys.

As most of you know i have been riding an On-One Gimp Mark 3 for a good couple of months now. For a quick review, let’s just say i am buying a mark 4 version of this frame (has disc mounts), thats how good it was!

The geometry of the bike is great, it is basically BMX Geo with 26″ wheels, so it is very small and short. Which gives for great control over it in the air.

The cromoly steel was amazing, you could really notice the difference when compared to aluminium. The cromoly is not as stiff as aluminium, so it gives a bit of flex which made landing alot smoother, well they feel smoother anyway. It was noticably heavier than aluminium, but you didnt notice really out on the trail.

Overall i thought the frame was really well made and designed, featured good placement of gussets and had extremely high quality welding. My only quarm with this frame was that it did not have rear disc mounts, only V-Brake mounts. But they have corrected this in the Mark 4 version.

I would highly recommend this frame, for a RRP of $749 it is great value too. They also come with a really good warranty, so you will be covered if you ever axe the frame (which you wont! it is steel baby!). You can also buy the complete demo bike (rigid forks, on-one wheels etc. - my parts featured in photo) for $1100. Email me if you are interested.

The gimp got 7.5/10 from me, and i will do another review when i get my MARK 4 built up with discs, it will be sure to score higher!
