Banshee Bikes @ InterBike Las Vegas 2006

Pinkbike.com and Rip.tv have just done an interview with the man, Jay, from Banshee Bikes. Jay will give you a quick run down on our 2 favourite duallies from Banshee in 2007. The Pyre, a 5.5″ virtual four bar pivot All Mountain / Enduro weapon and the Chaparral, a 6″/7″ freeride bike using Turner’s four bar suspension system.
Check out the 5 minute video interview with Jay at Pinkbike.com: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Banshee-Bikes-Interbike-2006-Video.html
Pyre
The Pyre uses Banshee’s new virtual 4-bar (V4B) pivot system decouples the dynamic forces from bumps and pedaling so the Pyre rides plushly over bumps while maintaining incredible pedaling efficiency. This bike rips up high speed bike parks, grooves tight twisty single track and has more climbing traction than a hardtail.
The Pyre’s custom triple butted ½ RAD tube set is light enough for marathon racing and the hydro formed down tube with its integral gusset is strong enough for all mountain freeriding with forks up to 6â€. Our exclusive internally ribbed seat and chain stays are joined with a unique triple cavity wishbone tube to make the rear end strong, stiff and predictable. The 3 major pivots run on heat treated stainless steel axles and sealed high strength needle bearings for durability.
The 2007 Pyre has shaved a few grams. The bike featured in the Pinkbike.com video weighs in at around 13.7 Kg with a fairly average and inexpensive spec on it. If you have cash to burn however, you can whittle the Pyre complete down to the realms of 11.3 Kg.
Chaparral
The Banshee Chaparral is a smaller and lighter version of Banshee’s classic Scream.
Although it’s not a “huck†bike, with our solid forgings and light gauge genuine Easton RAD tubes the Chaparral is the burliest bike in its class. It’s stiff and strong enough to give huge confidence dropping off Shore style stunts, yet still light enough to be able to grind out those big epic climbs and dance on winding single track trails. With its high speed stability the Chap rules in lift assisted bike parks.
The Chap’s progressive suspension has been upped to 6†or 7†of travel. With the new longer stroke coil over shock, up to an 8†DC fork and tight Scream inspired geometry, the Chap has amazing traction and is incredibly plush and predictable on high speed stutter bumps, tight single track and “Shore Style†drops.
The Chaparral featured on the Pinkbike.com video is specced with Rockshox Totems, probably the most ideal fork for this bike. Will set the bike up as a fantastic freeride bike that will still pin any DH trail you can throw at it.
